The 5 Love Languages – Gary Chapman – Animated Book Review
Making love work can be quite a challenge. We all want to have the relationships that are Instagram and television worthy. Once we get beyond the excitement, freshness and exhilaration of newness, we can easily become bored, frustrated and disappointed. Are you feeling happy and excited about being in your relationship? Do you feel appreciated? What about your significant other? Do they complain about you not leaving them when you give them your all?
So many of us grew up with the Golden Rule. You’re familiar with it, right? You know the “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” rule. It sounds great in theory; however, it does not cut the mustard in reality. We have evolved to this concept of the Platinum Rule. The Platinum Rule gives us the command to “Do unto others as THEY want to be done.” Yes, this creates a bit of a difference doesn’t it?
The final piece to this challenge is figuring out the specifics of what the other person wants. Well,
Gary Chapman, has done a phenomenal job of creating the tools to help us to figure out our love language AND the acts that help us identify love. Chapman tells us that there are 5 love languages. He shares that they are: affection, gifts, acts of service, words of affirmation and time. Do you know which is your love language? Take the inventory below. You may be surprised.
Would you like more information on the love languages? If so, take a peep at the book!
